A Yearly Audit for a Midlife New Year. Not a reinvention, but a recognition.
The New Year often nudges us toward goal-setting, resolution-making, and the pressure to “start fresh.” To be honest I love this.
There’s something beautiful about new intentions, there can also be something exhausting about feeling like you must endlessly improve, change, or overhaul yourself every January.
But when it comes to menopause health, this time of year can bring on a lot of judgement. When your body is already navigating so many changes, the pressure to “be better” can feel overwhelming.
Last year, I chose something different. Something gentler. Something grounding.
It was an idea inspired by @melrobbins and it shifted everything. I plan on doing this again because it’s a great example of how we can all measure our progress backwards.
Instead of looking forward to a place where we aren't yet, let's look back at all the things we've done, enjoyed, and accomplished.
Here’s how I did it, and how you can too...
Let get into it!

Look Back Before Looking Forward For Your Menopause Health
I sat down with my camera roll and scrolled through the year, month by month. Not to critique myself, but to witness myself.
The experiences I lived through.
The challenges I pushed through.
The moments my body carried me, even when it felt tired.
The small wins I never paused long enough to celebrate.
The joy. The grief. The growth.
All of it.
Before setting any intentions for the year ahead, I let myself look honestly and lovingly at the year behind me.
Because too often, we rush to “fix” the future without honoring what we’ve already walked through.
And if you’re in midlife, you know this truth well:
Your strength rarely looks flashy.
It often looks quiet, steady, and hard-earned.
Just like your health; built slowly, over time.
Why This Matters in Menopause
Midlife can make you feel like you’re losing ground; energy shifting, sleep changing, weight fluctuating, emotions intensifying.
But a Yearly Audit helps you see the truth: You’ve done far more than you give yourself credit for.
Reflecting before planning helps you set intentions from a place of compassion, not criticism.
From clarity, not urgency. From wisdom, not pressure.
I Want to Challenge You to Do the Same
Take 15–20 minutes with your camera roll. Let the months play back like a quiet movie.
Ask yourself:
What actually worked this year?
What didn’t serve you — physically, emotionally, hormonally?
Where did you show resilience you forgot to acknowledge?
What health changes or habits made you feel supported?
What do you want to gently build on?
This kind of reflection isn’t self-improvement, it’s self-recognition.
And for women in midlife, that recognition matters more than you realize.
Your body is evolving.
Your needs are evolving.
And your goals deserve to evolve with you.
Because your health and your growth was never meant to happen in a day.
